Become a Master with Marston

WineGoggle: Hey Cathy Marston, howΓÇÖs it hanging?

Cathy Marston: TheyΓÇÖre not too bad. Yours?

WG Cool. Heard you chatting to John Maytham, the wine, food, bird, general knowledge guy on CapeTalk Radio. YouΓÇÖre doing a wine course?

CM This is true.

WG So, give me the lowdown ΓÇô if I can address a Cambridge University graduate in this tone.

CM No, thatΓÇÖs quite alright. Basically, itΓÇÖs an introductory wine course for people who havenΓÇÖt done a wine course before. However, because of the awesome speakers we get, I often find that a lot of quite knowledgeable wine folk join it simply because itΓÇÖs a great way to taste fab wines and get close-up and personal with the winemakers. All the details of the course are here. And speakers now confirmed so far are Groote Post, Boekenhoustkloof, Steenberg with hopefully Simonsig and Vergelegen to join in. So people are going to get some seriously good wines here!! My belief, and the whole ethos behind this course, is that people need to have more confidence about wine ΓÇô itΓÇÖs not rocket science, itΓÇÖs something we grow and we turn it into something we drink ΓÇô end of story. The whole wine industry would benefit enormously if people didnΓÇÖt feel intimidated about our product and marginalised by too much wine speak and too many scary people! So we aim to answer questions, make it non-threatening, tell people that they CAN taste wine and that at the end of the day, they will hopefully go home with the belief that wine drinking is fun.

WG ThatΓÇÖs excellent. Thanks a million.

CM Pleasure. See ya.
